SMM January 3 News:
As the Chinese New Year holiday approaches, SMM has conducted a survey on the holiday arrangements of zinc oxide enterprises this year. The sample includes 20 companies with a total capacity of 516,800 mt/year, affecting zinc consumption of 6,309 mt. The average holiday duration is 20.1 days, a slight increase of 0.1 days compared to last year. According to SMM, although some zinc oxide plants have shut down earlier due to poor profitability, most zinc oxide enterprises have holiday durations similar to last year. Additionally, some plants continue production during the Chinese New Year due to their processes. Overall, the change in the average holiday duration for zinc oxide this year is relatively small. From the perspective of orders, many ceramic factories have recently taken holidays, leading to a significant reduction in orders for ceramic-grade zinc oxide. Consequently, many related zinc oxide plants have started their holidays earlier. However, orders for rubber-grade zinc oxide have not shown a significant decline, and some plants have stated that their specific holiday arrangements are still undecided. SMM will continue to monitor the subsequent holiday developments.
